The name
"Rosmead" has long been associated with Cape Town’s suburbs. The
promise of fresh rolls, pastries and confectionery as well as
mouthwatering delicatessen with a distinction for Eastern
Cuisine. The huge demand for the cuisine expertly prepared in
the Flagship store in Claremont compelled a move to the Central
Business District in Cape Town and the brand new image is all
the rave. From humble beginnings in the quiet suburb of
Claremont, the family run business soon developed into a name
with patrons requiring more than just a conventional Deli.
The business soon steered away from mainstream retail into a
more specialized store focused on customer service providing
fresh cuisine seven days a week, including all public holidays.
With the development of an in-store coffee shop in the Claremont
branch, the new modern store in Cape Town undertakes to provide
more than that. Developed around trends and still providing for
customers needs, the Rosmead promise will always be to provide
excellent service to their patrons.

The corner of
Darling and Adderley Streets has always and will always have a
certain buzz about it. Most probably one of the busiest
intersections in Cape Town, commonly known as Cartwright’s
Corner, the location provides and excellent spot for the trendy
modern age deli and restaurant "The Rosmead". With a distinct
New York type appeal, the tall glazed windows provide an
excellent vantage point from both inside and out. The store has
an open plan and incorporated and on-site bakery, kitchen, juice
bar and coffee bar. With just enough retail space not to
interrupt seated guests, the store carries a range of both local
and imported foodstuff.
The seating area situated on the mezzanine seats approximately
65 people and the bar areas and outside areas seat an additional
33. The mezzanine area has a mixture of both private booths and
dining tables with the ability to cater for both private
functions and open plan parties, the place really has a feel
about it that makes it unique and different from most other
delis or restaurants. Indeed, the place carries the
characteristics of being a place where you can hang out with
your buddies for an easy night out and just chill or if it’s
some one you want to impress, make a reservation and ask them to
provide you with a special setup for you to host. The Rosmead
caters for functions and meetings too.

The cuisine
prepared by the restaurant is modern, fusion food. From Asian
Steak Tornados to Crème Brulée with Berry Compote, there will
always be something to suite your taste-buds. The signature
breakfasts include French Toast with a Twist as well as Eggs
Benedict prepared with Eggs, Pastrami and Spinach topped with
Hollandaise Sauce on a Traditional English Scone. The Signature
Main Course Meals are Traditional Afghan Kofta prepared with
Flat Bread and Roast Vegetables, Asian Steak as well as Chicken
Stir Fry with Chinese Egg Noodles and Indonesian Soya Sauce,
Preserved Ginger and Sesame Seed. The menu is A-la-Carte and on
certain Sundays and Public Holidays they have a fixed menu and
almost always offer a dessert as a treat for next to nothing!
The Rosmead has three chefs: Chef Craig Richards specializes in
Swiss Confectionery and does more than justice to their
excellent range of Pastries and Confectionery. Chef Hassan is
the Executive Chef and is accompanied by Chef Abu-Bakr and their
team of qualified kitchen staff assist in providing you with a
wide range of exotic cuisine to suite cosmopolitan crowd often
found in the restaurant. The drinks menu has over 120 drinks
from pure fruit juices to virgin cocktails as well as a range of
specialized teas and coffees. For a relaxing wind-down at the
end of the day, The Rosmead is quite the place to be. Rated four
out of four in the Cape Towner restaurant review, the place is
definitely worth a visit.

Coming into Cape Town follow Adderley Street towards the
mountain. We are on the left hand side opposite Standard Bank.
